Mean and median

Desmos computes statistics for a list in one line.

Example: enter $L = [12, 15, 15, 18, 21, 40]$. Desmos shows the mean is $20.1\overline{6}$ and the median is $16.5$.

• The mean is pulled up by the outlier $40$; the median is not. Questions often ask which measure changes more when a value is removed. Check by deleting $40$ from the list.
• Other useful functions: stdev(L), min(L), max(L), total(L).

On the test: for data sets given as lists or dot plots, type the values in instead of adding by hand.
